In September 2000, 189 countries had a meeting about the future. They decided that in order to have a more peaceful Earth some things would have to change. The leaders of the world agreed upon reaching 8 goals by 2015. They called them Millenium Development Goals, because they were written at the beginning of a new millenium and were about developing the world.
Many other people or organisations want to improve the world. You may have heard of or even joined Make Poverty History, Roots and Shoots, Free the Children or a local or other Global Issues Networks. These are some examples of people, young and old, trying to make a better future for our world. The IB Organisation agrees that our future is important. The IBO community theme is Sharing our Humanity.
